One of the tasks of recovery is to close your abdominal wall again so that your abdominal muscles can function properly. As you probably know, you should avoid movements that put too much strain on your straight abdominal muscles until your abdominal wall has recovered properly.

However, rest and relief are not enough in most cases. By gently building up your lateral abdominal muscles, you can improve your core stability and prevent or counteract rectus diastasis (a gap in the abdominal wall).
