The foundation of successful training is an effective warm-up. This is where we build a connection with our horses and prepare them physically and mentally in order to get the most out of our dressage training.

Description

A good warm-up is one of the most important elements of training. It allows us to optimally prepare the horses for the working phase and to achieve top results and honest training success. At the Olympica Games in Tokyo 2021 for example, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Dalera took exactly 18 minutes in the warm-up arena to prepare for Gold.

For us, the warm-up is more than simply warming up the horse’s muscles. It’s about creating the right conditions: a supple back, a good contact, a fine response to subtle aids, balance and straightness, focus and concentration. The exact structure of the warm-up depends on the horse’s level of training as well as his mindset on a given day. With the help of four different horses, we will demonstrate what’s most important to us and how we use the warm-up to set the stage for healthy carriage, balance, bigger movement, and expression.
