Online Masterclass: Our Way to the Piaffe

The piaffe is a high school movement and the pinnacle of collection. It teaches the lowering of the haunches, strengthes the back -, abdominal and hindquarter musculature, improves balance and coordination, trains the carrying capacity and improves suppleness.
We like to prepare the piaffe in-hand at an early stage. The work-in hand offers a wonderful opportunity to build confidence and create variety.

For many years, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Benjamin Werndl have been supported by Andreas Hausberger, Chief Rider at the Spanish Riding School. In this course, we will show you our way to the piaffe with different horses – from the very first steps in-hand all the way to a beautiful Grand Prix level piaffe.

In the end, the piaffe should be light and dance-like, the horse should push off powerfully in perfect balance, lower the haunches, swing over the back and react proudly to the finest rider aids. The more logically we explain the piaffe to our horses and the better we prepare the lesson, the more confident and motivated they will be.
